Under the “Cap and Trade Bill” which the Republican rightly call the “Cap and Tax Bill” and the Democrats ever dealing in semantics call the “Climate Bill” you would have to retrofit your house in order to sell it according to the Democrats plan.
The bill, which now goes to the Senate, directs the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop and implement a national policy for residential and commercial buildings. The purpose of such a strategy – known as the Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Performance (REEP) – would be to “facilitate” the retrofitting of existing buildings nationwide.
The bill states…
“States shall maintain responsibility for meeting the standards and requirements of the REEP program,”
But here’s the deal the bill does say what REEP is, the bill leaves the definition of a retrofit and the details of the REEP program up to the EPA. However, states are responsible for ensuring that the government’s plans are carried out, whatever the final details may entail. So the House passes a bill that would force you to retrofit your home with no idea how that would effect the homeowner.
Democrats’ Cap-and-Trade Bill Creates ‘Retrofit’ Policy for Homes and Businesses
The program would involve a system of certified auditors, inspectors, and raters who inspect homes and businesses using devices such as infrared cameras (which measure how much heat a building is giving off) to measure their energy efficiency.
The results of these energy audits would then be used to determine what retrofits need to be performed. The audits would examine things like water usage, infrared photography, and pressurized testing to determine the efficiency of door and window seals, and indoor air quality.
Those retrofits would be performed by licensed retrofit contractors using government-approved methods and resources including roofing materials that reflect solar energy.
“building retrofits conducted pursuant to a REEP program utilize, especially in all air-conditioned buildings, roofing materials with high solar energy reflectance,” the legislation states.
After the retrofitting is complete, the government – state, local, or federal – will come back and re-inspect the house to determine how much energy has been saved and whether the retrofit is up to federal government standards.
So in addition to this nonsense they also want to impose California building standards on every state and we all know what a success California has been, this is ridiculous complete ridiculous if I want California building standards I’ll move to California… and that will be a cold day in hell.
So think about that libs when you’re supporting the “Cap and Trade” you might just be capping off your ability to sell your home and trade off any profits you might see.
And as far as calling this a “Climate Bill” I’m sick and tried of these misleading bill names, this bill as everything to do with lining the pockets of politicians, government and GE… oh yeah look it up GE is investing billions in so-called “green” energy and electronic heath care databases (which has nothing to do with Cap and Trade, but a lot to do with National Health Care which is in the works) So you want to know how is greasing the wheels of “Cap and Trade” at start looking at GE.
There are cap-and-traitors outside of Congress, too. Several major American corporations – including Caterpillar Inc. (why their shareholders put up with this is a mystery), Dow Jones & Co. Inc., Alcoa Inc. and General Electric Co. – banded together to form the U.S. Climate Action Partnership and lobby for cap-and-trade.
Keep these companies in mind next time you go shopping… and let’s not forget GE’s ties to the terrorist state Iran.
