As you know, unless you live under a rock… Micheal Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both died today. The internet ground to a nearly a halt, news shows went wall to wall with coverage and people gathered in groups. Tomorrow it will continue and the magazines and papers will be covered with stories about it, there will be TV specials, DVD releases, boxsets, posters and anything else they can cash in on, but what they won’t tell you is…
… also today in addition to these 2 there was 156,355* other deaths, some old, some young, some natural, some illness, some murdered, some suicides and some we’ll never know and Micheal Jackson and Farrah Fawcett’s life was no more or no less important then those other and tomorrow the world will go on without them.
Think about it.
*8.78 deaths per 1,000 people a year as of 2005 adjusted for 2008
What others have said…
Remembering Michael Jackson
(NOTE: FoxNews went to no stop coverage of Micheal Jackson… not that there is anything going on in Iran or with the Cap and Tax bill, the Immigration reform or National Health Care… yes I sent them a nasty-gram.)
Fox News “news coverage” of Jackson’s death includes full-length music videos without news
Michael Jackson suffers massive heart attack, in critical condition; TMZ: Jackson dead
RIP Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson: They produced lots of memories for us age 40+ members of society!
Additional NOTE: I’m 45 I remember the Jackson 5, Charlie’s Angles and I had a Farrah poster and thriller on LP but they’re just people and people die, I will, you will we all will… no one gets out alive. Sorry if I’m not emotional those are the facts.
UPDATE: I just thought of this, actually I thought of it last night but didn’t post it. If you are over 40-45 years old this will make sense to you.
WHEN DID GROUCHO MARX DIE??? With out looking it up, without Google when did Groucho die? Don’t remember do you? Why don’t you remember well who died 3 days earlier on August 16, 1977? That’s right Elvis and as a result the death of a one of the greatest comics ever Groucho Marx nearly went unnoticed.
So Farrah who? Yep Farrah Fawcett will is facing the same fate as Groucho Marx, in a few years no one will remember when she died being over shadowed by another and there will be posters if her seen online and the kids of the future will go who’s that? Now I’m not a Farrah Fawcett or Micheal Jackson fan, it’s just an observation. I am a Elvis and Groucho fan for the record.
Remember this Elvis “The King of Rock-n-Rock” Presley died in the first year of Jimmy Carter’s horrible presidency.
Now Micheal “The King of Pop” Jackson has died in the first year of Barack Obama’s horrible presidency.
There was revolution trouble in Iran during Carter, there is revolution trouble in Iran during Obama. Unemployment was up under Carter and up under Obama, etc etc.
I’ll expand on this more in a a more fitting post later.
