White Guilt and why I’ve never had it.

First I’d like to congratulate Mr. Obama for his victory to become the 44th President of the United States of America, I wish him well and really hope he does a good job for the country. I’m no fan of Obama, this is no secret and I and many others will be watching him like a hawk. For a man that ran on a chant of hope, change and transparency. So far I’ve only seen more of the same with a endless parade of Washington insiders and blatant opacity.

Today January 20, 2009 we inaugurate the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama (shut up that’s the name he’s using in the oath) who as a Senator from Illinois is desperately trying to to convince you he is the second coming of another Senator from Illinois, Abraham Lincoln or so it seems. In everything form from taking the train to Washington D.C. and making speeches from the landing to adoring fans in a very ‘Lincolnesque’ style, to reading portions of the Gettysburg Address (is this a prelude to current or impending civil war?), to serving meals from Lincoln’s own inaugural menu, to using the same Bible Lincoln himself was sworn in on (The first President since Lincoln to do that.), to using the same china pattern and serving setting as Lincoln, to concert at the Lincoln Memorial and who knows what else … and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he didn’t show up wearing a stove pipe hat and tails. There is only a few tiny details that Obama is missing, Lincoln was a Republican and Lincoln wouldn’t exactly jumping up and down at the election of Obama, why? Well Lincoln said as pointed out in a article by Leonard Pitts Jr. “there is a physical difference between the white and black races, which … will forever forbid the two races living together upon terms of social and political equality.” Now what exactly Lincoln may have meant by that we may never know, but clearly Lincoln had no signs of white guilt that I believe vaulted Obama into the White House.

So here today we usher in a brand new America with a shiny new President that in my humble opinion is only where he is because of as I said White Guilt and we must ask ourself is he there for that reason alone? I think he is in a large part and I’ll tell you why amongst other thoughts. President Elect Obama is quite possibly the most unqualified person to ever occupy the Oval Office, period. This has zero to do with his race and everything to do with his experience or the lack there of, Barack Obama is one great orator and I’ll give him that, he can really swoon a crowd, he can talk and talk and talk for hours and never say anything of substance and he made those guilty white Liberal Americans feel comfortable with who they are and played their White Guilt like a fiddle via a series of stealth race cards dealt straight from the bottom of the deck and that for the most part flew under the radar do to the mainstream medias love affair with Obama. Here are a very few …

“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere … That’s the world! On which hope sits.”

“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”

Barack Obama – June 2008 Jacksonville, Florida

“So nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he’s not patriotic enough. He’s got a funny name. You know, he doesn’t look like all those other Presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He’s risky. That’s essentially the argument they’re making.”

Barack Obama – July 30, 2008 Springfield MO.

‘White folks greed (… and those white folks -emphases mine) they’re going to make you afraid of me, they’re going to make you scared of me and he’s got a funny name and did I mention he’s black’ he says … well hold the damn phone a minute. Who said that? Well who are the these ‘they’ people? Are those ‘they’ people the evil racist white conservative that have said to oppress blacks since the dawn of time … expect for that whole ending slavery bit and passing the civil rights act thing that the democrats were against on both fronts, other than that, they are evil, right or is it little green men from Mars? Who are these damn ‘they’ people … let’s hear it Barry, name names. Tell me!! Name me one single person on the right side of the aisle in some from of leadership that has said anything about his race, the only person to ever say anything about his race is Barack Obama himself. Stuff like that just makes me mad!

There has been much written and much said about White Guilt, deep studies, psychological profiles, political discussion, open debate as well as introspective individual thought. Well, I’ve thought about it, for about a minute or less and I don’t have any, never had any, not getting any and my conscious is clear, why? Is it because I’m too good? No, too superior? No, am I to out of touch with my white history to be ‘guilted’ by some of the so called sins of the past? Nope, it’s more simple than that … I don’t have a superiority complex and in my little world, in my world WHITE GUILT IS DEAD!

See those that have White Guilt in my opinion feel they are in some way privileged because they’re white, that they somehow have a leg up in life only because of they’re white and that simply based on the fact that they are white alone life has been easier for them, they feel superior … BUT they manifest this feeling of superiority as guilt. I have actually had liberals I know say this in not so many words. Here are the facts, my life hasn’t been easier for me because I’m white, I never got special treatment because I was white, I never got a job either great one or crappy one because I’m white, I never got a home loan because I was white, or a car, or a credit card, a library card, a video store card or any-damn-thing else simply because I processed some magical creamy white skin that screamed look at me, look at me, I’m special because I’m white! Let me let you in on a little secret, there is no secret handshake, no secret club, no code words, nothing that set whites apart from any other ethnic group in America other than the color of there skin and if you look at Micheal Jackson that’s not even a given into itself.

Now Shelby Steele has written a lot about White Guilt and what it is about. In fact he wrote a book of the same title, “White Guilt“. I’ll give full disclosure, I haven’t read the full book, somethings you just know and don’t need to have explained to you. So Shelby Steele, a Black American if that matters to you talks about how some Black America uses White Guilt to “… turn their status as victims into a kind of currency with no purchasing power.” Therefore, he claims, blacks must stop “buying into this zero-sum game” by adopting a “culture of excellence and achievement” without relying on “set-asides and entitlements.” I’d agree with those sentiments. Mr. Steele points out the white liberal left has use the alleged victimization of the blacks in modern America to push a agenda of equality through use of affirmative action and various other social program to relieve themselves of White Guilt which has actually done more to further enslave blacks to a system of dependency, therefore denying them of true equality via independence.

I’ve made this argument for years and years that you will never have true equality, a real level playing field as long as one side, one group of people be it Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Indian, women, men, straight, gay, whatever has privileges not possessed by the other and these special privileges are invoked by law and governmental policy. So far I can think of only one group of Americans that has no laws, no policies, no special status, nothing to set them apart from other groups, can you think of it?

So while all of your white guilt ridden friends run around breaking their arm patting them selfs on the back because they were so progressive, so liberal, so fair that they voted in the first black President, remember they only did it for one reason only they had to negate there own feeling of superiority that they by virtue of their race alone where somehow better than their own canidate and they just couldn’t stand feeling that way. I for one do not suffer form this problem, I know I’m no better than any other person, I know I’ve worked hard for everything I have and I know nothing, absolute nothing was ever given to me or handed to me because of my skin color and not until everyone adopts that philosophy and forgoes special status will you have true equality.

White Guilt has given black Americans affirmative action, quotas, NAACP, The National Negro College Fund, Black History Month, the ability to talk bad about me, but don’t I dare talk bad about you or I’m charged with a hate crime and so much more, but you don’t seem to have any idea how it cripples you. So let me ask black Americans a simple question, put you racism aside (remember 96% of blacks voted for Obama, what do you call that? Equality?) for a minute because you are probably mad by this point, but I don’t care, so just think about the question … Can you truly be equal as a black American in America if white American see you and thinks you only got where you are today simply because of your skin color and not because of your ability and qualifications? This sort of flies in the face of Martin Luther King Jr doesn’t it? I’m not saying that is the your case nor am I saying every black American thinks that way, I’m just saying that many white Americans see it that way and fair or not and so do some black Americans too … do a little research on the opinions presented about Condi Rice, Clarance Thomas, Colin Powell and many others, more than once I have heard or read black Americans calling them Uncle Tom’s or worse.

Barack Obama as I started this post is now President and has used white guilt to get where he is today. If you honestly just looked at his qualifications on paper with no name, no race, no gender would you honestly hire him to be the President of the United States? Really be honest and Obama is still using white guilt via the invocation of Abraham Lincoln to keep those white guilt Americans still feeling guilty. The only thing Obama and Lincoln have in common aside from both being Senators from Illinois is big ears and that’s certainly nothing to base a likeness on. I never knew Abraham Lincoln, but I’ve read a lot about him I feel safe in saying Barack Obama you are no Abraham Lincoln.
