Cardin’s Newspaper Revitalization Act

Have you heard of the Newspaper Revitalization Act? No? It’s not here, yet as it still lacks a co-sponsors and hopefully it will never have one, however the bills champion Senator Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) want to bailout the failing newspapers of which nearly all of them are liberal.

U.S. bill seeks to rescue faltering newspapers

Cardin’s Newspaper Revitalization Act would allow newspapers to operate as nonprofits for educational purposes under the U.S. tax code, giving them a similar status to public broadcasting companies.

Under this arrangement, newspapers would still be free to report on all issues, including political campaigns. But they would be prohibited from making political endorsements.

Please! I don’t believe for a minute we need to start bailing out newspapers since all the other bailouts have been such a wonderful success so far. Isn’t it about time we get back the the world of survival of the fittest? You survive and fail on your own merit? If you print a paper people want to read then people will buy it and read it, if you print mindless dribble then you may vary well go out of business. It’s really pretty simple.

What are they all going to be called Pravda? Just what we need government funded and support newspapers.

Gee I could be wrong but I believe this are all liberal papers, what are the odd? These rags do not need to be bailed out, no what the need to do is go quietly into the light. If the lib’s really cared, they’d want them to die, it would save trees and reduce carbon emissions. Bailout the newspapers … give me a break.

Oh if you are wondering why I’m not ragging on Obama’s press conference tonight … well it’s was the same old boring garbage that he’s been babbling about for days, I haven’t bought it in the past, I’m not buying it now. It was a slepper at best.

More reading about that here.

Actually, the Rocky was a bit to the right on it's op-ed pages. The news pages were definitely to the left. I miss is, the Denver Post has been forced a little to the right in an attempt to pick up some of the Rocky's readers
